When the weather starts to turn cold and summer is truly at an end, the wasps arrive. Usually they hang out in our lobby for a bit and then die. It’s not entirely unusual to see a swarm of them outside our building looking for places to get in. Like moths, they head for the light — and our mistake was to get up early, open the windows and turn on the lights.
So now, there’s about 8 of them in our lounge, 4 in the bedroom and a dozen by the front door, buzzing around, sounding quite cross about the night outside they just had.
I really dislike wasps, having been stung by one years ago and finding the experience fairly distasteful, and I’m fairly nervous around them — but as long as they’re up there by the lights, and I’m down here by the floor, I’m not overly concerned. Besides — I’m catching a taxi to the airport shortly and they’re going to be left alone without a food source to die (hopefully).
It’s not as quick as fly spray — but it has the same effect.

Get yourself a £10 mini-vacuum from Currys. Works like a dream and they seem to die in 24 hours so no danger of getting stung when you empty it.
